Co-founder

Father, visionary, and innovator, Joshua Martin leads Genius Productions as company President with compassion and a drive to produce compelling stories in TV and film that are often overlooked by mainstream Hollywood.

Inspired by his daughter, actress Marsai Martin’s, Black Girl Magic, Martin sought out to create a production company focused on sharing narratives that highlight the talent and gifts of children of color. Ultimately, creating a path for young black girls and boys to accomplish great heights in entertainment. Most notably, he is credited as being the Executive Producer of Little, a NBCUniversal film starring Marsai Martin, Issa Rae, and Regina Hall.

Despite his intrinsic desire to create for audiences, Martin originally believed he would play professional football. Hailing from Carson, California, he was always known for being a“go-getter” with a distinct entrepreneurial spirit. After starting a family, Martin began to witness his love for the arts in his children and shifted his focus on creating content and a movement to positively influence the masses, while elevating his children’s career, combining his passions for family and producing.

Martin currently resides in Granada Hills, California with his wife Carol, and his two daughters Marsai and Cydni.
